[He shakes his head a little. But the waitress heard that, so she steps away from the table to bring back a slice of the aforementioned pie just a few moments later.]

[Luckily, the pie is pre-made, so it's not going to take eight years to get here. Ain is rather immediately digging in, looking bright and happy and smiley after the first bite.

It's like someone put the sun indoors suddenly. Ain is just beaming.]

[And that, whether Wolfwood would ever admit to it or not, is exactly what he was looking for. He wanted to see that smile, and he got it. A smile so bright it lights up the room and makes him feel like he's burning up inside.

He doesn't even realize he's started to smile too, unconsciously, as he props his head up in one hand with his elbow on the table edge.]

Well? Is it good?

[He asks, despite having eyes.]

[Wolfwood is indulging in sin (enjoying another man's smile while he eats pie).

Ain nods, not saying anything at first because his fork is in his mouth. He looks like this made his entire day, even if it's something simple. "Just" food. It's "just" a pie.]

It'sch good!!

[Happy Ain noises... that pie is going to be gone in a whole three minutes but he will be smiling the entire time.]

Ain cleans off his plate completely, scraping the sides of his fork across the porcelain to get any stray berry juice off of it. It goes right into his face immediately.

[Once again, Wolfwood is flustering and pretending to have no reaction as he picks up the check, pulling out his coinpurse as he does.]

Yeah yeah. I'm just a man of my word, s'all.

[He pulls out a few silver coins to place on the table before moving to stand.]

C'mon, let's get you back to your shack or whatever.

[He's...realizing he doesn't even know where it is, which may be by design on Ain's part.]

[That's exactly it. It's abandoned for a reason, Wolfwood, and it looks like no one was hankering to reclaim it at all. Ain's shack now. :) And while ordinarily he'd be like "um no leave me alone"... he and Wolfwood are setting out tomorrow, soooo he supposes he'll be honest. This is his shithole he lives in etc.

He's getting up, surprised that Wolfwood is paying but not ungrateful. Out they go, where Ain grabs Elria and takes her lead and sort of just... decides to walk with her.]

Aww, you mean you're not going to let me snuggle up to you in your room? [He teases.] Ah, it's fine. It's this way, a bit of a walk. Hope you like watching the sunset as you go.

[Oh, if only it were that easy. The only reason they managed it last time was because Wolfwood was too drunk to know better, or to stop himself from acting on those base urges. Now...he's a bit more flighty, despite how badly he does want it deep down.

Once they're away from town, though, in a secluded desert camping together where no one else could possibly see or hear them? All bets are fucking off, this man is going to go off the string and he has no idea about it yet.

For now, he takes the teasing...mostly in stride, rubbing the back of his neck with a free hand while he focuses on staring at Elria as they walk instead of Ain.]

[Good! Because otherwise it's gonna be a man on the back of a "woman's" horse and they're gonna get catcalled and whistled at by the few people that are out right now. Walking is easier, and it's not like walking your horse through town when you're talking to someone without one is weird, or just walking in general. Gotta stretch those leggies.]

[He probably wouldn't get lost, but there's also a 98% chance that Angelina would get distracted. That horse has ADHD, he's pretty sure.]

Though, might be a better idea to start off from the Inn now that I think about it. Angelina's gonna realize we're travelin' with another horse- [Elria, specifically.] -and lose her god damn mind.

[Makes sense... Ain has to go shopping anyway, so picking him up at the little shack seems ridiculous. And by shopping he means wallet liftin' and probably pocketing jerky and things in bags by being a little too smart. He is extremely deft with his hands, a thing Wolfwood will find out later :)]

Haha, okay, that works for me. I'll get you in the morning, then we'll go to the markets for extra supplies. I do have a sleeping bag and a tent, though you might want another one, if you don't already have one.

[Sometimes being out directly under the stars is a little, uhh, too cold. You know how it is. And sometimes it also means mosquitos.]

[There's literally a hole in the goddamn wall no wonder no one wants this place. Repairing it is labour.]

[You never know what you might encounter on the road, after all. Bad weather, wild animals, bandits. Just to name a few. And they’ll more than likely get at least one of these things if not more.]

If we had enough money, we could buy a wagon and hitch the horses to it, but I dunno about you, I ain’t makin “family with a wagon and several oxen” kinda money.

[He will kiss Wolfwood on the cheek before they part for the night.]

[...this guy is going to be the death of him, and they still have a long trip ahead of them together. Just the two of them.

He lifts a hand and brushes his fingers over where Ain kissed him as he watches him leave for his dinky little shack, silently thinking that he's glad it's so far out from the rest of the town. It's kindof dangerous, for him to be out here all by himself.

Why does he care, when he's just going to throw him in prison? He...

...he doesn't know.

Wolfwood heads back to the Inn (Angelina whinnies at him loudly as she sees him pass by like WHERE DID YOU GO >:|) and barely gets any sleep. He tosses and turns for several hours before drifting off, his thoughts consumed by- who else- the spicy silver-haired prostitute he's gotten to know over the past couple of days. Eventually he manages to drift off, only to wake up an hour later panting, heart racing, because he dreamed about Ain riding him the same way he had two nights prior.

He chooses to suffer with an unbearable erection for another hour before finally giving up and finishing himself off, to the humiliating tune of coming in seconds.

He does not go back to bed, and ends up just getting up a couple hours even earlier than when he thinks Ain would have wanted to meet up outside the Inn, looking more than a little bedraggled.

At least he won't be late.]

[Ain gets up just before the sun comes up habitually, because his life is never calm and sleeping too late means risking getting caught, or not heading out on time, or things like that. He's used to it. One day he will settle down (lol) and sleep in for once and be like wow, this is the life, but that day is not today. He is hard-wired to get up at 6am when the sun is barely beginning to wake up itself, but that provides him the perfect opportunity to slink around the town and scope it out for the day.

Ah. There's a wagon on someone's property near to the main roadway. Surely they want to keep that wagon? Too bad. It means he doesn't have to try to buy one, either! Ain Suspiciously flits about that property for a while, wedging rocks and sticks into the barn door so they have to spend an hour or two fixing it when they go to let the animals out and causing general distracting mayhem. The front door of the house gets an entire fucking boulder (it's a small boulder) set in front of it, heavy enough to disrupt opening it. He does not glue the windows shut, but he does shove a stick between the shutters so they can't open up either.

All in all, sabotage completed, they will be back to collect this wagon. He's already got it ready for two horses to be quickly hooked up to it and has rolled it just slightly off the property, enough so people walking by will be like "oh no the wind got your wagon haha", but not enough for any good Samaritans to roll it back onto the property fully. He's sure Elria could pull this entire thing by herself since it's empty and she is, as stated, a fucking draft horse he's trained to kill — but Angelina helping would also be good.

Hopefully Wolfwood feels like committing a heist this morning.

Just as he's making his way to the inn does he spot a wanted poster, and he rips it off the wall and Elria snatches it from his hand and munches on it. Everyone else can stay wanted, he doesn't care, this is her daily snack.]

They've gotta get tired of printing those things eventually...

[Whatever, though, not his elephants not his circus. He pulls up to the inn walking with his horse in tow, looking off ahead to a bustling crowd swarming the morning market. Perfect.

Where is Wolfwood, is he outside? Because Ain is here grinning at him, dressed in pants again today. He is Not wearing a dress on a long journey.]

[You know what, Ain has got some balls because Wolfwood wasn't going to assume he was brave or bold enough to try to yoink someone's wagon for their trip. In the meantime, he's too distracted thinking about Ain's balls to consider that maybe Ain is a little more feral than he ever gave him credit for.

He is outside, as a matter of fact, leaning against Angelina's side and smoking a cigarette to wake himself up. He very nearly faceplants when she suddenly nickers and runs away from him, trotting over to Elria like hi hi hi sniffs you sniffs you nibbles on your hair.]

Mornin'. [Don't think about him naked don't think about him naked] You said you needed to pick up some stuff before we left, right?

[No, no, tell him about that dream you had Wolfwood, imagine him naked more. It's what he wants.

Elria is happy to have Friend back, she will nibble back. The horses are horsing, the girls are girling, and the boys... well the boys are in denial but that's okay.]

Some extra rations, yes. You have all your things, right? Because we're not coming back.

[Because Ain is about to do what they call a Crime, folks.]

The market is that way. In the morning, it's swarming with people, so there will be a bit of a crowd. Fresh fruits and the sort get sold, so people are all over it.

[They are walking that way. They'll have to leave the horses at the "entrance" to the outdoor market, of course, because otherwise the streets get way too crowded and the horses will definitely try to eat the produce and each other, but that's fine. That works better for Ain, who is a slippery little rat of a person.]

Yeah, I got everythin'.

[He shrugs one shoulder, as if to show off the pack he has slung over it. It jingles audibly, because not only does it have some of his own dry rations leftover from the trip here, but also a bunch of travel cooking supplies like pots, skillets, utensils, and a few small bowls. He's got his gun and ammunition for defense and hunting, plenty of cigarettes and his lighter, a canteen for water...that sort of thing. He will probably pick up extra rations as well just to be safe since you never know what will happen on the road, but still.]

Makes sense. Just make sure not to get too much perishable shit unless you plan on eatin' it right away.

You don't have to tell me twice. I've been on the road since I was a teenager. Cute of you to worry, though.

[Off they trot! Or rather, off he and Wolfwood walk, while the horses trot behind and nomnomnom on each other. This is how the creatures show love.

They'll be parked out near some other horses for a little while Ain peruses. Wolfwood may or may not catch his sticky fingers in action depending on how hard he's scrutinizing Ain in the crowd. He'll pay for things legitimately, sure, but while he's paying his fingers have deftly snagged someone else's money. As they walk from stall to stall, the crowd affords Ain the opportunity to brush shoulders with people, something that's expected in a place this bustling — and when Wolfwood blinks, he's suddenly holding more coin than he was a moment ago.

This is how the trip goes. Ain is a very slippery little eel. The fresh fruit he grabs for both of them — two apples — is paid for in the same breath he swipes the coin back from the vendor. Truly evil. Truly heinous. But they get everything they'll need, and Ain triumphantly packs it into Elria's saddlebags.]

One more errand. Follow me.

[Don't call him cute he'll act up-

Wolfwood is, in fact, paying very close attention to Ain right now because...he's been going through it, alright, he can't help it. He's zeroed in on the guy as he watches him flit in and out among the people and the stalls, less focused on his own shopping and more on what Ain's doing. He actually misses it the first couple of times because he's just that good at this particular brand of sleight of hand, but once he knows what he's looking for...he realizes that Ain has been pickpocketing the crowd this entire time. Interesting that he's choosing to steal the money to pay with as opposed to just stealing the goods outright, but he supposes that makes it seem less obvious that's what's happening. If he's seen "buying" things, why would anyone have any reason to be suspicious of him?

Thing is, he has little qualms about it. He's a bandit after all, he and his gang do this exact same thing, albeit through a lot more openly violent means. They take what they want when they want it with no regard for who they might hurt in the process. They're just trying to survive, sure, but...that's the way it is in this world. Eat, or be eaten.

He doesn't say a word. He just keeps it in mind, knowing he's going to have to be extra careful around him from this point on. He's very smooth...and he wonders still just how much of the Ain he knows is fabricated. The Ain that he's becoming...]

[The fun thing about Ain is that his entire personality, other than the way he acts when he's on the job, is completely genuine. Of course, Wolfwood has a lot of reason to doubt that now that he's seen the little shit swiping everything in the vicinity; the assessment that he has an alibi if he pays for things fair and square is correct, though. The vendors don't have a problem with Ain, officers, he seemed like a fine young... gendered thing!

The things that he's hiding, though, hoo boy. Wolfwood only has 5% of the history there. Ain isn't inclined to share anything right now, since theoretically Wolfwood will be out of his hair somehow soon, and it's not like he needs people knowing that much about him.

Anyway, they're off to that property he scoped out this morning. He looks up at the barn in the distance and grins when the doors are still shut, grins and the rocks still in front of the door...

And fucking rapidly gets the horses lined up to be hooked up to this. The saddlebags get tossed into the back. They are heisting.]

Get in the back of the wagon.

[Ain's hopping up onto the front to steer.]
